I think I’ve reached an inflection point.
Okay, before you ask what an Inflection point is. An Inflection point is by definition “a moment of significant, often dramatic change that alters the course of something”. Imagine, you had a bereavement or a traumatic incident or an incredibly low point in your life that leads to a steep or elevated change. That is a brief description of an inflection point.
Now, since we have an idea of what it means. I’ll be clearer, I’ve reached one myself. I termed it several things, including a lull or a depressive phase. Phases where you do not really want to wake up every morning to work or you really do not enjoy doing your job as best as you can or you really are not happy enough or creative enough, often due to an incident.
More often than not, these inflection points are very decisive in a career path or that of a relationship or academic path. They’re meaningful because they alter the trajectory of that individual for the better or the absolute worst. I am able to describe this lull because I’ve thought long and hard enough what it means and how much influence it can have over my plans and that of my relationships.
It is imperative that when we reach these inflection points, we recognize them as priority and navigate without losing perception of self and of already fined tuned ability and strengths. This trained ability and strengths are important in navigating these very tumultuous periods which make or break the trajectory of any individual.
I have a personal philosophy of dignity in labor, kind strength and never backing down in any given scenario and this ties very closely with the many inflections points I have successfully navigated roughly (and some seamlessly).
It is also important to highlight that you may have a lot of these inflection points many times in your life and all it requires is first;
Taking a step back and taking stock of the entire situation. If you gave too much- be measured, if you worked way too hard - rest a bit more, if you worried too much - employ a healthy dose of various distractions.
Understanding your strengths and weaknesses including self-analysis of the things you can improve on or drop.
Realizing that this inflection points could be propellers of growth if you do not give up or go the wrong path.
These changes and adjustments could go a long way in helping navigate these tumultuous periods.
Away from describing it, I’ve hit one now and I need to go through another Inflection point, let’s do it together if you’re in the same boat.
Until next time.
Daniel.
